In July 2021, the federal government approved the establishment of four universities – Federal University of Health Sciences Azare, Bauchi State; Federal University of Health Sciences Ila Orangun, Osun State; Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa-Ibom State and Federal University of Technology, Babura Jigawa State.
The establishment of the aforementioned universities came as no surprise due to the way the world has focused on science and technology. This university will provide employment opportunities for our abundant young people from Jigawa and other parts of the country. In terms of business, Babura and other neighboring local governments in Jigawa, as well as Katsina State and the Republic of Niger, will benefit enormously.
I particularly welcome the appointments of Prof. Sabo Ibrahim B/Kudu, Jigawa State as Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, and Fatima Binta Muhammad (mni) as Registrar.
Professor Sabo Ibrahim holds a doctorate in electrical engineering.
Fatima Binta Muhammad (mni) was born in Sokoto State. She is an accomplished administrator with extensive experience in administration, policy formulation and implementation. She is a very passionate leader and humanitarian who takes on many corporate social responsibilities on a voluntary basis.
Therefore, I have no doubts about the appointments of Professor Sabo Ibrahim and Fatima Binta Muhammad (mni) as far right and together they will propel Babura Federal University of Technology to greater heights.
