Georgia University System Introduces New College Comparison Tool

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – The University System of Georgia has just rolled out a new one-stop website now available for Georgia parents and students making important college decisions.

It’s called Georgia Degrees Pay. The tool, announced Tuesday at the August Board of Regents meeting, allows users to compare the 26 public universities and colleges in the University System (USG). Many features allow users to compare up to two schools at once – and include categories such as cost of attendance, future earnings, and student pass rates.

“As one of the nation’s top public university systems, the Georgia University System leads the nation in giving students, families, and stakeholders deep access to data in a centralized, easy-to-use way. and transparent,” said US Chancellor Sonny. Perdue said Tuesday in a press release.

In the cost category, students and their families can find information about each school’s affordability, borrowing, and amount of debt.

“This tool is going to be great for us,” said Maria Grovner, school board coordinator for Atlanta Public Schools.

The district already uses a personalized tool, based on students’ academic profiles, to better prepare them for college. However, Grovner thinks USG’s new tool will improve the work APS is already doing, especially in terms of understanding college affordability.

“It’s going to help them determine if there’s going to be a potential gap in their college funding and if there’s going to be a gap, then we can help them find other scholarships,” Grovner added.

Georgia Degrees Pay outlines potential earnings one, five, or even ten years after graduation. It also allows users to compare each school’s student body composition and their retention rates.

“I commend the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Perdue and his staff for putting this new asset in place, and I look forward to the benefits it will bring to learners across the state who will soon enter our robust workforce,” Governor Brian Kemp said. .

For best results, USG encourages students and their families to compare schools in the same area. The tool also includes information on online scholarships and degrees.
