Washington, November 24, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Howard University is pleased to announce that Kimberly Holmes-Iverson will take on the role of Director of Public Relations in the Office of Academic Communications. Holmes-Iverson will lead the University’s media relations and communications strategy to increase Howard’s visibility and enhance his reputation as an internationally renowned research institution and prominent historically black university and university (HBCU).

Holmes-Iverson is an accomplished journalist with a wealth of award-winning storytelling experience, bringing nearly two decades of communications and journalism experience to Howard University. Previously, she was the morning presenter at the CBS branch on the east coast of Maryland. Prior to this post, she covered countless stories while reporting, anchoring and producing investigative reporting and specials at stations in Orlando, Florida, and Cincinnati, Ohio. His work has been recognized by the Emmy® Awards, The Associated Press, the Religion Newswriters Association and the National Association of Black Journalists.

Holmes-Iverson began her career behind the scenes as an associate producer in Miami, Florida, and as an intern in the Bloomberg Television office in Washington, DC. Her passion for nurturing young people led her to teach journalism, media ethics and communications courses as an adjunct teacher at Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She often draws on her experience working in public relations at a nonprofit education organization in Washington, DC and in communications at the local level while working on an early gubernatorial campaign. his career. Over the years, she has been a mentor, volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and leader of a Girl Scout troop. She is also proud to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Holmes-Iverson holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a master’s degree in journalism from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. As Director of Public Relations, Holmes-Iverson will report to the Vice President and Director of Communications. She will oversee the University’s public relations and communications strategy to increase Howard’s visibility and work to strengthen media relations.
