The SMART building is also home to an Innovative Autonomous Technologies Research Center, which provides ground, air and underwater testing capabilities – the only higher education center in the Maryland university system with a research component. In an existing partnership with the University of Maryland Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site, the facility designates a technical research and development space and 16 additional classrooms for training and professional events.
