HERRIMAN, Utah – Former Penn State men’s soccer midfielder Peter Reedy signed a professional MLS NEXT Pro contract with Real Monarchs on Friday, pending league approval, ahead of the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season.
After going undrafted in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, Reedy was invited to Real Salt Lake’s pre-season camp as a trialist. There he impressed the club during the two-month pre-season, even starting a pre-season game against Minnesota United and playing substitute minutes in two more games, to earn a contract.
“Pierre entered pre-season with Real Salt Lake and has continually impressed our technical staff. His approach to his craft, his character and his desire to succeed are a role model for players of all ages within our organization. development with the monarchs,” Real Salt Lake assistant general manager Tony Beltran said in the official club press release.
In six seasons with the Nittany Lions, Reedy played in 69 career games with 64 starts. He had nine goals and 14 assists for 32 total points. On the court, Reedy helped Penn State achieve the elusive Big Ten “double” in 2021 for the first time in program history. He earned two All-Big Ten honors and was a third-team All-American in 2020-21, in addition to four other All-America honors throughout his career.

The Kutztown, Pennsylvania native was a three-time Penn State captain and a highly respected leader. He earned two degrees at Penn State (Bachelor’s, Security and Risk Analysis; Master’s in Corporate Finance). Reedy was named an Academic All-Big Ten five times and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice. He was also the 2021 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient.
The True Monarchs are expected to participate in MLS NEXT Pro for the 2022 season, the schedule for which will be released at a later date.
