The 7th convocation of Southeastern University was held at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center in Dhaka on Thursday.
As the representative of the President and Chancellor of South Eastern University, Minister of Education Dipu Moni awarded the diplomas to the graduate students, and Prof. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal delivered the convocation speech, while the Vice -education Minister
Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury attended as a special guest, a press release said.
A total of 1,302 students, graduates of various university programs, attended the convocation.
Shamsun Nahar, a student in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mahdee-Al-Mahmud, a student in the Department of English, and Mostafa-E-Zaman, a student in the Department of Textile Engineering, graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.0 and was awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. Shamsun Nahar delivered the valedictorian speech.
Based on the highest GPA achieved, 5 students from the Southeast Business School, 4 from the School of Science and Engineering, and 6 from the School of Arts and Social Sciences were awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
Among others, Rezaul Karim, Chairman of the Board of the Southeast University Trust, and Professor AFM Mafizul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, spoke on this occasion.
Major General (Retired) Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, Registrar, led the entire program, while Board Members, BoT Advisor, Academic Council and Union Members, Vice- Chancellors of different universities, senior government and business officials, teachers and SEU officials, as well as tutors were also present at the ceremony.
