PHOENIX – (BUSINESS WIRE) – November 5, 2021–

University of Phoenix employees are supporting the Phoenix Pride Parade, held on November 6, the annual celebration of the LGBTQ + community held in Phoenix, Arizona. The University of Phoenix (ERG) employee resource group, Allies of Pride, with over 500 members, promotes the event to staff, students and faculty and provides volunteer support.

During the pandemic, many similar celebrations and in-person community events and support opportunities were canceled or delayed.

“It’s important to remember that pride is not just a parade or a specific month in which we celebrate. Pride is what we do every day. It’s what’s inside us, how we live our lives openly and honestly, and how we support each other. Pride is never canceled, ”shares Julie Fink, vice president of human resources at the University of Phoenix. “However, we are thrilled to have a visual and in-person celebration of our community and to support each other, which is so essential as we come out of a very difficult year and a half. This parade is an opportunity to celebrate, to be together and to support our loved ones, our family members and one another. “

The goal of the Allies of Pride employee resource group is to promote awareness within the university and the community of understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ. In addition, the goal is to attract “allies” who support LGBTQ causes and rights in order to create a stronger support network both inside and outside the organization.

“The University of Phoenix is dedicated to promoting inclusion as part of its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) focus,” says Fink. “It has received successive perfect scores on the HRC Corporate Equality Index. This highlights the University’s willingness to review practices to make changes or adapt to changing views on non-discrimination.

The HRC Corporate Equality Index is a self-reported system that assesses equality in the workplace against specific criteria, including workforce protection, inclusive benefits, support for an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility, and responsible citizenship. The University of Phoenix has received a perfect tie score consecutively for the past four years.
